Huddersfield Town have endured a tough start to their season and currently sit in 18th-place in the Premier League.
The Terriers have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup after a 2-0 defeat at Championship side, Stoke City.
With no wins and just 4 goals from their opening 8 league games, David Wagner knows that he is facing a relegation dogfight as the season progresses.
“We know that we fight to stay in the Premier League. We have the feeling we are competitive and even though we haven’t had the best start, everything is tight around us, so game on.” He told the press ahead of his sides home fixture against Liverpool.
Wagner was the best man at Jurgen Klopp’s wedding, years ago. The pair forged a strong friendship when they met at Mainz, in Germany.
However, there will be no time for niceties when their two sides meet, on Saturday evening. Wagner’s Huddersfield side desperately need to start picking up points and lift themselves away from the foot of the league table while Klopp’s Liverpool side will be hoping to maintain their early title challenge and keep pace with Chelsea and Manchester City at the top.
“It’s a game I always look forward to. It’s a special game, for me and this football club. We play Liverpool one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League at our stadium.’’ He continued.
“We will invest everything and we aim to deliver something extraordinary.”
