Waddle: Arsenal will not finish in top four

Former England international Chris Waddle reckons Arsenal will not be good enough to finish in the top four this season.

The Gunners began the weekend in fourth place, but a comprehensive 3-1 defeat away to reigning Premier League Champions Man City, sees Unai Emery’s side drop to sixth, behind Chelsea and Manchester United respectively.

Arsenal were completely outclassed by Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad, and Waddle was particularly scathing in his appraisal of Gunners strikers Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

“Arsenal were so poor second half and it doesn’t matter how much you cost or what your name is, you have to work hard, and the two strikers have let Arsenal down tonight,” Waddle told BBC 5 Live Radio.

“They could’ve at least chased the defenders to try and get on the ball but they did nothing. Very poor. Arsenal will not get top four. It will be Europa League for them again.”
