Liverpool centre-back Virgil Van Dijk has vowed to do everything possible to end the Anfield outfits six season barren run without a trophy.
The Reds have not collected any silverware since their 2012 League Cup triumph over Cardiff City, but their £75 million defender has insisted that he and his team-mates will be working hard to end that unwanted run this season.
Van Dijk has impressed since making his big money move to Anfield from Southampton last January, helping to add some much needed defensive stability to Jurgen Klopp’s side over the second half of the campaign.
Despite again not winning anything last season, Liverpool did come agonisingly close, when they went on a superb run to the Champions League final, only to be beaten by Real Madrid at the last hurdle.
“Like I said when I arrived, I want to achieve everything possible with this beautiful club,” he told Liverpool’s official website.
“We’re going to work our socks off and do everything possible to make it happen this season. We were very close to silverware but obviously not close enough.
“I can improve in any aspect of the game. At the moment, it’s getting back to full fitness, making sure I’m getting better and stronger than I was before. I will work every day and do everything possible and no doubt it will happen.”
