Zaha willing to make Manchester United return

Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha is willing to return to Manchester United according to reports today.

Zaha has informed the club of his desire to leave Selhurst Park this summer, with the 26-year-old keen to fulfil his ambitions of playing European football.

The Ivory Coast international has previously spoken about his desire to play in the Champions League, though United’s failure to qualify for next season’s competition is not believed to be a stumbling block over a possible Old Trafford return.

Zaha signed for Manchester United in January 2013 as Sir Alex Ferguson’s final signing in charge, however, with Fergie retiring that summer, he failed to establish himself under either David Moyes or Louis van Gaal before returning to Palace on a permanent basis in 2015.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund are all believed to be interested in signing Zaha this summer, though it is unlikely any of the trio will match Palace’s reported £100m asking price.

According to the Telegraph, United are also keen, whilst Zaha would have no reservations about a return to Manchester.

Should Zaha not return to Old Trafford, the club will still have a keen interest in his future destination having inserted a 20 per cent sell on clause into the deal when he departed in 2015.

Palace’s position is strengthened by the five-year contract the forward signed last summer, and if the club can secure the £100m fee being demanded, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will receive a welcome boost to his transfer funds.
