Tottenham Hotspur are on the brink of completing their first signing of the summer, after having an £11million bid accepted for a Premier League midfielder.

Last seasons third placed club have had a bid accepted by Southampton for Victor Wanyama, who has been a target for Spurs since Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival at at White Hart Lane in 2014.

The 25-year old moved to the Premier League in 2013, with the then Southampton manager Pochettino brought Wanyama to Southampton from Scottish Champions, Celtic.

Despite the Saints resilience to sell any more of their stars, Wanyama has rejected a series of contract offers, leaving Southampton with little choice to accept Spurs’ latest bid.

The Kenyan has agreed terms with Tottenham, and is set to have a medical in the coming days.

Pochettino wants Wanyama to challenge with Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele in the holding role of the Spurs midfield.
