Liverpool have had some fantastic forwards over the course of their illustrious history, now, Steven Gerrard has had his say on who has been the best in recent history.
Mohamed Salah is continuing to stagger and amaze everyone with his wonderful goals and skills, especially considering that he was considered a flop following his time at Chelsea.
He already has more goals (32) than Luis Suarez ever managed in a single season, despite it only being March, while he is close to matching the high of 33 scored by Fernando Torres.
Speaking prior to Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Porto on Tuesday, club legend Steven Gerrard has had his say on who was better:
“Fernando had a great phase at Liverpool, but Suarez did it for longer,” answered Gerrard. “And I believe if he was at Liverpool now he would still be hitting a 30 goal return.
“He also did an awful lot more away from the goals as well, assisting goals and the work rate he used to put in for the team. So for me, I’ll be biased towards Suarez.
“But, if Salah goes on to continue to be consistent over a number go years and add silverware, that would give him an advantage over Torres and Suarez because they never won much.”
Salah has a chance to extend his impressive goalscoring form when Liverpool head to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
