In 2023, Newcastle spent around โฌ70m to sign Tonali from AC Milan but the midfielder’s debut campaign was decimated by suspension. Found guilty of breaching betting rules during his career in Serie A, Tonali was banned from football for nine months.
He has established himself as a central part of Eddie Howe’s side since returning and the player’s agent, Beppe Riso, believes Tonali is now out of reach for Italian clubs.
He called the 24-year-old ‘one of the best midfielders in the world’ and says Serie A sides could not afford a deal to sign him.
โSandro is one of the best midfielders in the world,โ Riso stated. โHe now has a value that Italian clubs will find difficult to afford. I envision a career for him away from Serie A.โ
