Bruno Fernandes has equalled the Premier League’s assist record after notching his 20th of the campaign against Nottingham Forest.
Fernandes set up Bryan Mbeumo at Old Trafford on Sunday, to match the best-ever return in a single season.
The Portugal international had already set a new club record for Premier League assists in a campaign for Manchester United, surpassing David Beckham’s 15-assist mark earlier in the campaign.
Just two players previously have ever reached 20 assists in a single Premier League campaign.
Thierry Henry was the first to achieve the feat for Arsenal in 2002/03, in a season that also saw the Gunners great score 24 league goals. Henry is one of only two players, alongside Lionel Messi, to record 20+ goals and 20+ assists in a top-five European league this century.
Kevin De Bruyne also reached 20 assists for Manchester City in 2019/20. The brilliant Belgian ranks second all-time for Premier League assists, with 115.
