The five favourites to win the 2018/19 Premier League Golden Boot

Our beloved Premier League made it’s long-awaited return last weekend. One of the most intriguing battles as always will be watching the greatest strikers in the land fighting it out for the famous Golden Boot award for the English top flights’ top scorer.

Here are the five favourites …

Romelu Lukaku 12/1

Big Rom made a solid start to his Manchester United career after joining from Everton for £75 million last summer, netting 16 Premier League goals for the Red Devils.

The Belgium international is far from perfect though and is often accused of being a flat track bully, although his record of having scored over 100 Premier League goals by the age of 24, he probably deserves a bit more respect.

Sergio Aguero 7/1

Recently scored his 200th goal of a truly superb Manchester City career. The Argentina international is not just a City great but also one of the greatest strikers the Premier League has ever seen.

A truly devastating finisher, who would probably be the outright favourite if he didn’t usually miss large parts of the season through injury.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 13/2

Aubameyang joined Arsenal for a club record £56 million from Borussia Dortmund last January, and despite arriving in North London lacking full match fitness, the 29-year-old racked up an impressive 10 goals in just 13 Premier League appearances for the Gunners.

During his time in the Bundesliga the lighting quick forward scored a sensational 98 goals in just 144 games for Dortmund, and with Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan providing the bullets behind him in Unai Emery’s side, Aubameyang looks a solid bet to score a hatful of goals this season.

Mohamed Salah 7/2

When Liverpool paid Roma £38 million for former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah last summer, most fans expected him to be a good player, but few would have predicted that the Egyptian attacker would go onto the have the greatest goal scoring season in Premier League history, by netting an all-time high of 32 goals.

It will be interesting to see if the pacey winger can maintain his level from the previous campaign, but if pre-season or Liverpool’s opening game against West Ham is anything to go by it shouldn’t be a problem for the brilliant 25-year-old.

Barring injury issues Salah will more than likely be there or thereabouts when the Golden Boot is being handed out next May.

Harry Kane 10/3

The Bookies make England Captain and the top scorer from this summers World Cup in Russia Harry Kane the slight favourite to score the most goals in this season’s Premier League.

Kane has proved himself to be the best out-and-out number nine in English football in recent seasons and the 25-year-old will be aiming to make it his fifth campaign in a row in which he has scored more than twenty goals in the league.

When it comes to hitting the old onion bag nobody has done it with such consistency in recent years as the Spurs striker, with his goal totals for the last three campaigns reading; 25, 29 and 30.
