Terry: Grealish ‘reminds me of Gazza’

Chelsea legend John Terry has said that Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish reminds him of England icon Paul Gascoigne.

Gazza is widely regarded as one of the most naturally talented midfielders that England has ever produced, and having played with Grealish at Aston Villa last season, John Terry has said that he can see similarities in the way that the 22-year-old plays the game.

“Jack will be a big, big player,” Terry told the Daily Mail. “I hope Villa can come up and he gets his chance in the Premier League that way. I can see why Spurs wanted him.

“Right now he’s in the right place. I think he will become a top Premier League star and an England international.

“He reminds me of Gazza, with his balance and his skill, the way he receives the ball and drives at defenders.

“He is looking after himself off the pitch as well. He’s a great lad.

“He eats the right way and got the chef on board at the training ground. He was cooking for Jack there as well as sending him home with the right food.

“That will serve him well. He’s an ambitious boy who will go right to the top if he continues doing the right thing.”

Grealish was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Chelsea and Spurs both linked, but nobody getting close to Aston Villa’s £40m valuation.
