Ten Hag ‘vetoes’ deal for Man United centre-back to leave Old Trafford

Erik ten Hag has vetoed the sale of Victor Lindelof with the defender set to remain at Manchester United.

Lindelof was linked with an exit from Manchester United after struggling for regular first-team football earlier in the campaign, but a strong run of form during the run-in has prompted a rethink on his future.

The Sweden international impressed in the absence of the injured Lisandro Martinez and Ten Hag is keen to keep the centre-back among his options.

According to German publication BILD, a deal had been agreed in January for Lindelof to sign for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, but Ten Hag has ‘vetoed’ the sale.

Lindelof started the Red Devils’ final nine games of the Premier League season as the club secured a third-place finish and Champions League qualification.

The 28-year-old ended the season with 35 appearances in all competitions and will be keen to build on his strong end to the campaign with regular minutes next season.

United are expected to allow Harry Maguire to leave this summer after the England international made just eight Premier League starts under Ten Hag, while centre-back duo Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones have departed on free transfers.
