Sweden: 2026 World Cup Squad, Fixtures and Schedule

Sweden goes to North America for the FIFA World Cup this summer as they look to make a lasting impact on the global stage after missing out in 2022.

Graham Potter steadied the ship in the qualifying process, guiding Sweden to the tournament within just five months of his appointment, having navigated qualification without winning a single game in their group — which Switzerland eventually won — before progressing through the Nations League play-off route.

The pressure was firmly on this team to spark a revival after missing the last World Cup in Qatar, with the dream almost slipping through their fingers before qualification was eventually secured.

Viktor Gyökeres arrived at the World Cup in sensational form after becoming the hero of Sweden’s UEFA play-off victory, scoring four goals across the two play-off matches, including a spectacular hat-trick against Ukraine.

His physicality, finishing ability, and incredible confidence have transformed him into the main attacking weapon for Sweden heading into the tournament.

Sweden have been drawn in Group F at the tournament, where three-time runners-up Netherlands, Asian giants Japan, and African nation Tunisia await in opposition.
