Tottenham have been handed an injury blow with the news that Toby Alderweireld will be our for longer than expected.
The Belgian has not played since limping out of Spurs’ Champions League clash with Real Madrid back on November 1st after picking up a hamstring injury.
He had been expected to return to action next month, but Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed he will be out for longer than first feared.
The Argentine said:
“We cannot change the reality. The reality is he is injured and cannot play until February”
Spurs have only won two of their six Premier League games in the Belgians absence, and face a further 10 games to play between now and February, including fixtures against Manchester United and Manchester City.
Looking at the fixture list, the club will be hoping he is back in early February rather than later. The next North London derby is scheduled for 10th February, with the first leg of their Champions League tie against Juventus due to be played just three days later.
