Tottenham are pushing to sign Axel Disasi from Chelsea as the club look to sign a second centre-back.

Spurs completed the €25m signing of Kevin Danso from Lens on Sunday and are keen to further bolster their depleted defence before Monday’s deadline.

Disasi has been on the club’s radar throughout the transfer window and Spurs are now stepping up efforts to sign the France international.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that negotiations between the London clubs are ongoing, as Spurs look to beat Aston Villa to Disasi.

The latter have agreed personal terms with 26-year-old over a potential move but have so far failed to find an agreement with Chelsea. Disasi is open to a transfer to Villa Park.

Interest from Spurs has accelerated after Radu Dragusin sustained a serious knee injury this week. The defender could miss the rest of the campaign, leaving Spurs short of depth with Cristian Romero also currently sidelined.

Disasi has struggled for a regular role at Chelsea and is free to leave Stamford Bridge. The Frenchman made 44 appearances last season following his £38.5m arrival from Monaco but has fallen out of favour under new head coach Enzo Maresca. He has started just four times in the Premier League so far this season.
