Spurs defender Danny Rose has interestingly said that Mauricio Pochettino ‘deserves’ to be linked with a big move away from the North London club.
Pochettino has long been linked with being a future manager at either Manchester United or Real Madrid, with speculation linking him with being Jose Mourinho’s successor at Old Trafford ramping up significantly last week.
Spurs have had their best ever start to a season as we approach the halfway mark of the Premier League season, and have also managed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, despite only having one point after three matches in Europe.
The Argentine is thought to be keen to steer Spurs into their new stadium, but left-back Danny Rose – who has previously angled for a move away himself – reckons that the job that Poch has done shows that the links to a top club are more than justified.
“It’s no coincidence every day you read Real Madrid want him or United want him. It’s exactly what he deserves,” Rose said after Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Barcelona on Tuesday.
“What he has done here in the last four or five years has been amazing. Not only for myself but the club.
“He has transformed how others think of us outside the club and he has transformed how we think of ourselves and how we approach big games.
“It’s no secret all the teams have spent a lot more than what we have. The belief he gives everybody is just amazing.”
Pochettino has been working with the exact same squad as he did last year, with Spurs becoming the first club in the Premier League era not to make a summer signing. However, Rose hinted that the North London club may not sign anyone in January either.
“The manager did not made any signings in the summer and he is probably not going to make any signings in January,” he added.
“Well, I’ve not heard anything, so I am guessing that will be the case. So for him to do what he has done and what he is doing now speaks volumes of him.
“Like I said, it’s no coincidence big teams are being linked with him. We hope he stays for a really long time.”
