Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with an ambitious move to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.
Alvarez’s future dominated the headlines in the summer as the Argentine informed Atletico Madrid of his desire to leave the club, amid interest from Barcelona.
Atletico insisted Alvarez would not be sold to their La Liga rivals and also rejected an offer from Real Madrid earlier in the summer. Arsenal had also monitored the situation.
According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, Spurs are now planning a bold move to lure Alvarez to North London, with a £113m bid mooted. Spurs are reportedly prepared to include a release clause that would allow the 26-year-old to pursue a future move to Barcelona.
Alvarez scored 20 goals in 67 league appearances during a two-season spell in the Premier League at Manchester City, before joining Atletico for around £81.8m in 2024. He’s scored 49 goals in 110 games, but is yet to open his account for the new season.
Spurs spent £380m in the summer under Roberto De Zerbi, but remain without a Premier League win after five games.
