Spurs looking to ‘tempt’ Kane into signing new deal

Tottenham are looking to tempt Harry Kane into signing a new contract with the offer of a post-playing career with the club.

Kane’s current contract expires next summer and the forward is considering his future amid strong interest from Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions have seen two bids turned down for the 29-year-old, with Spurs desperate to keep hold of the club’s all-time record goalscorer.

According to the Telegraph, Spurs are prepared to offer Kane a club-record £400,000-a-week contract to remain in north London, with the added incentive of a post-playing role.

Spurs hope the prospect of helping Kane into a new career after retirement can help convince him to commit to a new deal, with options including facilitating a coaching career or a potential board role.

Kane returned to pre-season training this week and held talks with new manager Ange Postecoglou on Wednesday, but has so far shown no indication that he is prepared to sign a new deal.

However, Kane is understood to be ‘open’ to all options and Spurs are hopeful that they can produce a package to tempt the England captain into signing an extension.

Bayern believe Kane is open to a move to Germany given the greater chance of winning elusive silverware and will make an approach to sign the forward as a free agent if their bid to sign him this summer fails.

The Bavarians will be able to approach Kane on a pre-contract agreement in January if he does not sign a new deal at Spurs.
