Ben Davies has praised his Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko, describing his recent performances as ‘brilliant’.
Sissoko has long been a player that has divided opinion during his time in the Premier League, especially since swapping Newcastle for North London for £30 million back in 2016.
During his time at Spurs, he has made 65 appearances in the league, but has only started 29 games, scoring one goal.
However, six of those starts have come this season, after he has started to display similar performances levels to those that he put in for France at Euro 2016. With Sissoko having been recalled to the national squad for the recent UEFA Nations League game against the Netherlands, Welsh left-back Ben Davies has lavished praise on the 29-year-old.
“Honestly, he’s been brilliant for us,” Davies told the official Spurs website. “It’s the work he does off the ball that goes unrecognised but for us, as a team, it’s invaluable.
“To have a player like Moussa is to have a player who when you are under pressure, you know he’s going to get on the end of things, work and chase everything.
“He’s one of the hardest workers in the team and he deserves all the plaudits he’s getting.
“He’s back in the France squad and that is one of the best squads in the world. We’re all delighted for him.”
