Southampton are being linked with an audacious move for Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer.
The former Valencia striker has struggled for the Catalan giants since making a €30m move to the Nou Camp last summer, scoring just eight goals in 31 appearances for the club. Previously, he has scored 43 in 124 games for Valencia where he was considered one of the most exciting prospects in Spain.
According to the Daily Mirror, Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrini has already held provisional talks with the striker about a potential January transfer.
However, they also report that Alcacer is yet to be convinced about a move to the South Coast, and is also considering an offer from Ligue 1 club Lille.
Pellegrini is desperate to add more firepower to his Saints side after they have scored just seven goals in their opening eight Premier League games.
