Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness has hailed Jurgen Klopp as a ”breath of fresh air,’’ and also praised his former clubs transfer committee for the job they have done in recruiting new players over the last few seasons.
The Anfield outfit currently sit top of the Premier League after winning all six of their opening games and are widely expected to be the main challengers to reigning Champions Manchester City this season.
Souness recently took a break from slating Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba to praise Klopp and Liverpool’s recent record in the transfer market.
“Jurgen Klopp’s a breath of fresh air, he’s different class. Whether he’s responsible or he’s part of a committee that’s responsible, the recruitment over the last three or four years has been sensational.” Souness told the Mirror.
“They’re in great shape. If you’re a supporter of Liverpool, as I am, you’re very excited.
“They’ve signed a top goalkeeper. And the back four – Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez – they could play a decade together. Van Dijk looks as if he could play until he’s 50. And everyone knows about the midfield and attack.”
