‘Some games are bigger’ – Ten Hag on Liverpool clash

Erik ten Hag has said ‘some games are bigger than others’ as Manchester United face Liverpool this weekend.

The fierce rivals collide in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday, with a place in the semi-finals at Wembley on offer.

The FA Cup remains the last chance for Manchester United to win silverware this season, while the Red Devils will be keen to end Liverpool’s chase for a quadruple in Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge.

Ten Hag’s team have endured a poor recent record in this fixture, losing four of the last six, and have conceded 4+ goals in each of those losses.

The Dutchman admits his team must be at their ‘best’ to earn a positive result this weekend, ahead of what will be an atmospheric occasion with 9,000 Liverpool fans set to travel to Old Trafford.

“Some games are bigger than others, I think Manchester United against Liverpool is always a big game. I am looking forward to it,” Ten Hag said at his pre-match press conference.

“The fans see it as a very big game and they are very eager for us to win. There are more Liverpool fans there, so our fans have to be loud.

“In such games, we always achieve good performances. I don’t think in any really high-rated game that we had any lows. They are very consistent, we need our best to beat them.”
