Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he is hopeful Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard are ready to return to action for Manchester United in this weekend’s hotly anticipated clash against Liverpool.
Both players picked up what was described as ‘muscle injuries’ during Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to PSG last week, injuries that were expected to keep them out of action for two or three weeks.
However, just 10 days later, United caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that the duo could make a timely return to action, with his side looking to put a dent in Liverpool’s ambitions of claiming their first ever Premier League title at Old Trafford on Sunday.
โI hope and think Anthony will be ready and I hope Jesse will be ready because itโs two different injuries,โ the Norwegian told MUTV.
โSo maybe more hope than think, with Anthony as well, but heโs got a chance. Anyway, we still hope Jesse could be ready. Letโs see. Weโve still got a couple of daysโ training left and they need to be part of it.โ
Speaking in his press conference, Solskjaer did add that neither player has returned to training as of yet:
โThey’ve not been part of it yet, but they’ve been doing some recovery work and Anthony’s was a different muscle, of course, so we think that he might be ready and hope that Jesse will.โ
