New Aston Villa head coach Dean Smith insists his side did not deserve to lose against QPR yesterday afternoon, after the Villains lost 1-0 to the London outfit.
A Pawel Wszolek goal in the first half was enough to give Steve McClaren’s men a victory at Loftus Road, as Smith suffered his second loss in three games as Villa boss.
However, the former Brentford coach believes his side did not deserve to come away from the game empty handed.
“We certainly didn’t deserve to lose. We were better, much better, and I thought we were better than QPR as well, but unfortunately they’ve got the result.’’ He told Sky Sports.
His side dominated the game with 68% possession and 18 shots on goal, however his team could not find a way through the Rangers defence.
Smith led Villa to victory over Swansea City in his opening match in charge, before losing against Norwich City and now QPR.
Villa currently sit in 17th in the table, but Smith will be hoping his side can rectify any issues to begin their ascent up the table starting with Bolton next Friday.
