Aston Villa boss has been discussing the methods put in place to get his side to implement the high press style he wants the Midlands outfit to adopt.
Smith took charge of the club following Steve Bruceโs sacking earlier this season and has already put in place new training methods to get his side playing his ideal style as quickly as possible.
But the former Brentford boss has insisted that theyโve not changed too much in training.
”We’ve not changed an awful lot at the training ground.โโ Smith told his Friday press conference.
”Our sessions are obviously different, with JT having had some himself as well.
”With regard to chasing the ball back, I think the players have enjoyed the work. They can rest more on the ball and have their breather as they’re passing it.
”That’s always a nice feeling for them, because the opposition are chasing it then.”
Villa have struggled to string together results this season and will be hoping they can show signs of their new style in this weekendโs fixture.
The former Premier League outfit face an inform Derby County as the Rams host Smithโs charges in the 3pm kick off tomorrow.
