Arne Slot could return to Feyenoord to sign Lutsharel Geertruida after the defender was spotted in attendance during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at West Ham at the weekend.
Slot is expected to be named as Liverpool’s next manager after the Reds agreed terms with Feyenoord for the Dutchman, who has made clear his desire to leave Rotterdam and replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
The 45-year-old has already been linked with returning to Feyenoord for new signings, with Santiago Gimenez among those linked with Liverpool in recent days.
Another option could be Geertruida, who was in attendance at the London Stadium to watch Liverpool on Saturday. The 23-year-old revealed on social media that he was at the game, sparking speculation over a summer switch to Anfield.
Geertruida came through the academy system at Feyenoord and has since made 195 appearances for the Dutch side, establishing himself as one of the Eredivisie’s best young talents.
He has impressed at right-back, in central defence, and occasionally in midfield for Feyenoord and has broken into the Netherlands set-up to earn seven international caps.
He has scored six goals and laid on four assists in the Eredivisie this season and ranks in the 96th+ percentile of full-backs in the division for progressive passes and pass accuracy (89.1%) per 90 minutes.
Geertruida’s contract with Feyenoord expires in 2025 and the versatile star could be available for around £25m.
