Marco Silva singled out centre-back Yerry Mina for praise following Everton’s 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.
Mina, who played his first 90 minutes in the Premier League on Sunday, helped the Toffees to a clean sheet against Chelsea on his full debut.
The Columbian moved to Goodison Park from Barcelona in the summer after an impressive World Cup performance in Russia.
The Everton manager praised the defender after the game, pointing out what he brings to the team.
“[Mina] did everything I expected,” Silva told Sky Sports.
“It was his first official match in maybe three or four months and he showed his quality.
“He is very good on the ball and he is a player who will give us quality on the ball. Even without the ball he did what we planned, our defensive organisation and process.
