Marco Silva insisted that his side are improving following today’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The result means Everton have taken 19 points from twelve games and, after a slow start to the season, are now just two points shy of top six in the Premier League.
The Toffees’ manager believes the result proves they now have the capability to match up against the division’s best teams
“We can grow like we want to grow as a team and we can challenge when we play this type of match,” Silva told Sky Sports.
“We had one goal. We came here to try to win the match.
“We know they are strong and they can create problems and the first half was amazing because we showed everything; organisation, good shape, team spirit, a fantastic attitude and belief in ourselves.
Chelsea are currently still unbeaten in all competitions, but Silva was keen to point out Everton were the first team to prevent Chelsea scoring at home in the Premier League.
“We knew before the match it would be difficult to play here. We planned to come here to challenge them and I think this is the first time they didn’t score one goal in one match this season.”
