Serie A club make contact with Man Utd regarding deadline day transfer

Serie A club Roma have contacted Manchester United regarding a potential deadline day move for Daley Blind.

The Dutchman has slipped to third choice at left back, and down to sixth choice at centre back this season, making just five appearances in the Premier League this season.

Blind made himself a regular when he first moved to Old Trafford, starting in a defensive midfield role before being converted into a central defender by Louis van Gaal. The arrival of Jose Mourinho saw his opportunities become much more restricted last season, a trend which has continued into the current campaign.

United have already triggered a clause to extend Blinds contract until 2019, but are willing to let him leave, with Ashley Young and Luke Shaw seemingly cementing their places as the two front runners to be the long term left back.

According to the Daily Mirror, they are looking to recoup the £13m that they paid for the defender back in 2014, while the player is thought to be keen on the move.

Roma are on the look out for a last minute bargain after Emerson Palmieri completes a move to Chelsea on Tuesday evening, leaving just Aleksandar Kolarov as the first choice left back in the Italian capital.
