Arsenal legend David Seaman has warned fans not to expect instant results from new boss Unai Emery.
The former Sevilla manager has been tasked with following on from Arsene Wenger in the Arsenal dugout after the Frenchman finally brought the curtain down on his 22-year reign at the club.
However, unlike when Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United in 2013, a large number of Arsenal fans were delighted to see the back of Wenger who, despite winning three Premier League titles, had overseen a miserable decline in the club’s fortunes.
Unai Emery was appointed as Wenger’s replacement at the club earlier his summer, and despite having quickly got about the business of rebuilding the squad, club legend David Seaman has warned against overconfidence among the Gunners support:
“If I am honest I don’t think it will click straight away because it is a new manager,” Seaman role the Mirror.
“It is a whole new different way of Arsenal. I am back here [at the Emirates Stadium] and I am still seeing Arsene’s face everywhere.
“I see him in the dugout – moaning and groaning, and throwing water bottles, and struggling with his zip, stuff like that.
“So it is going to be really hard to get used to somebody else in that seat. It will take time, but I think realistically top four would be a great season for us.”
