Paul Scholes is tipping Bournemouth midfielder, Lewis Cook, to be one of the surprise stars of the 2018/19 Premier League season.
21-year-old Cook joined Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee from Leeds in the summer of 2016 and has gone onto make 35 Premier League appearances for the Cherries.
Cook already has one senior international cap and became the first Englishman since Bobby Moore in 1966 to lift a World Cup trophy when he captained the U20’s to victory in 2017.
Scholes revealed it was during Bournemouth’s fixture against his former club Manchester United last season that the talented midfielder caught his eye.
“I think the surprise player in the Premier League this year for me could be Lewis Cook at Bournemouth,” he told the Premier League website.
“I didn’t see a lot of him last season, but in the United v Bournemouth game, I was really impressed with what I saw.
“I spoke to Eddie Howe and he could be a dark horse this season. Hopefully, he does well for Bournemouth.”
