Newcastle’s Fabian Schar said it was a fantastic feeling to score twice for The Magpies in their 3-0 win over Cardiff today.
The Swiss international defender scored a goal either side of half-time before Ayoze Perez made it three in injury time to hand Rafa Benitez’s men a much-needed three points in their fight against relegation.
“It is a fantastic feeling after the game. It was a massive game for both teams.’’ Schar told Sky Sports.
“There was a lot of pressure on both teams. We needed to be ready for 90 minutes and today we were. We deserved to win.”
Today’s win means Newcastle have overtaken Cardiff and moved out of the bottom three.
Newcastle have another two home games coming up. First, they face Watford in the FA Cup next weekend before playing Manchester City at St James’ Park at the end of the month.
The Magpies had gone five league games without a win, so today’s result will have brought some much-needed positivity back to the north-east.
