Sarri: Man City and Liverpool above all other Premier League teams

Maurizio Sarri has played down his side’s chances of reclaiming the Premier League title this year, naming Manchester City and Liverpool as the two best teams in the division right now.

As it stands, reigning Champions Man City have reclaimed their place at the top of the Premier League, picking up 32 points out of a possible 36.

However, City isn’t the only side to have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the league, with Liverpool just two points behind, while Chelsea are just four points off the summit of the league.

But recently appointed Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has tried to temper expectations among the Stamford Bridge faithful, insisting his side are merely challenging for a place in the top four.

“I think at the moment in the Premier League there is a team above the others and this team is Manchester City,” said Sarri at his Friday press conference.

“Then there is a very good team, Liverpool. For sure Liverpool will be in the first four positions. Then there is four, five teams who will have to fight for the Champions League positions: Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and somebody else. Usually there is a surprise.”

Chelsea travel across London to Wembley this weekend to face fellow capital club Spurs on Saturday evening.
