Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has insisted Ruben Loftus-Cheek will not leave the club in the January transfer window.
The England international, who spent last season on-loan at Crystal Palace, has been linked with another temporary switch away from the club having seen his first-team opportunities limited so far this season.
The 22-year-old scored as a substitute in the weekend’s derby win over Fulham, and Sarri has said he intends to keep the midfielder at Stamford Bridge.
When asked on the possibility of Loftus-Cheek leaving on-loan Sarri told the press: “No. I want him to stay with me, to stay with us. So I think that there is no chance (of him leaving).”
Sarri suggested he is happy with Loftus-Cheek’s improvement in recent weeks, with the academy graduate having impressed in the club’s Europa League campaign, recently scoring a hat-trick against Belarusian side BATE Borisov.
With summer signing Mateo Kovacic having sustained a slight ankle injury, Loftus-Cheek may be in line for a first Premier League start of the season when Chelsea visit Wolves on Wednesday evening.
