Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has said that he feels his footballing philosophy is more similar to Jurgen Klopp than any other Premier League coach.
Both Sarri and Klopp’s sides remain unbeaten so far this season in the Premier League and played out a hugely entertaining 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in September, with both managers clearly enjoying the high-level performance their teams put in.
“[Jurgen] Klopp is the one who I feel is closest to me in terms of philosophy, and I think our exchange [on the touchline in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool] proves it,” Sarri told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“At a certain point, I turned to face him and I saw he was smiling so I went up to ask him why.
“He said: ‘Because I’m loving it, you?’ — ‘Me too,’ I replied. It’s when you experience situations like these that you realise you’ve reached the top.”
Liverpool and Chelsea currently sit in second and third place in the table respectively, behind reigning Champions Man City.
