Maurizio Sarri has said he is confident that Eden Hazard will remain as a Chelsea player for the remainder of the season following speculation linking him with Real Madrid.
The Belgium international has long been linked with a big money move to the Bernabeu, with former Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane known to have been a big admirer.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s £100 million move to Juventus saw Hazard touted as a potential replacement, with the Chelsea star only throwing fuel on the media fire with his comments following Belgium’s exit from the World Cup.
“After six wonderful years at Chelsea, it might be time to discover something different,” Hazard told reporters last month.
The transfer window may have closed for Premier League clubs to make additions to their squads, but some clubs in Europe are still, of course, able to sign players until the end of August. However, speaking to the press ahead of his sides’ clash with Arsenal this weekend, Maurizio Sarri does not believe that Hazard will be heading out of the Stamford Bridge exit door any time soon.
“I have spoken to him often in 10 days, but he has never said anything about [leaving]. I am sure Eden will be with us this season.”
