Maurizio Sarri has said that he is proud to have set a new club record in the Premier League, after extending Chelsea’s unbeaten run in the league to twelve games following their 0-0 draw against Everton today.
Sarri had already equalled the record set by Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side, when they started the title-winning 2005/06 and 2014/15 campaigns by going on an eleven game unbeaten streak.
The Blues’ goalless draw at Stamford Bridge against Everton on Saturday afternoon saw that record extended to twelve, with their Italian manager his pride in the team’s achievement.
“I am very proud of my record, but I have to say thank you to the club because they gave me a strong squad and I have to say thank you to the players and the staff. I am happy with everything but I would have preferred the three points.
“We have to think day by day and match by match and we have to be focussed.”
Despite still waiting to experience the bitter taste of defeat so far this season, the draw at Stamford Bridge today leaves Chelsea four points behind league leaders Man City, who beat Manchester United 3-1 in the Manchester derby.
