Maurizio Sarri was happy with how his Chelsea side played in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, on Saturday evening although he couldn’t hide his disappointment in missing out on all three points due to a fantastic equaliser from Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge.
Speaking to the media after the game, Sarri said that he believed a draw was a fair result on the day, describing the match as beautiful.
“The match was beautiful. I am happy with the performance, I am disappointed they scored in the last few minutes but I feel the draw is the right result,” Sarri told BT Sport.
Sarri took over at Chelsea during the summer after Antonio Conte’s time at Stamford Bridge came to an end. The former Napoli manager has enjoyed an excellent start to life in English football and he will be looking to maintain Chelsea’s league title challenge as the season progresses.
Sarri said he is confident that his Chelsea team may not be as far behind Liverpool as some may have thought, this season.
“We have started only two months ago I think [we are doing] very well. Maybe they [Liverpool] are one step ahead but I am starting to think we can recover in one season.”
