Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has said that he is looking to see an immediate reaction following the 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City at the weekend.
With Manchester United having leapfrogged Chelsea into fourth place in the Premier League and looking in good form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Europa League offers the West London club an alternative method of Champions League qualification.
The Blues get their knockout stage campaign underway this evening, facing Swedish side Malmo in the round of 32, and speaking ahead of the game, Maurizio Sarri is hoping to see his players respond.
“Not too easy, of course. After a match like Manchester City it’s normal,” Sarri said in his pre-match press conference.
“It’s not easy to play tomorrow after 6-0 but we have to play and we have to play well.
“We want to win. We want to react immediately.”
