Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has revealed that he is relishing the competition for places that new £60 million summer signing Riyad Mahrez will bring to the Etihad.
Sane was in superb form for Guardiola’s record-breaking Premier League Champions last season, scoring 10 goals and 15 assists, as well as winning the PFA Young Player of The Year award.
The 22-year-old left winger will be fresh heading into the new campaign after being controversially left out of Germany’s squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer.
Sane has admitted that he is looking forward to competing with Mahrez for a place in Guardiola’s star-studded Manchester City attack and also revealed how much he likes the former Leicester City man on a personal level.
“I’m totally happy for it – I like competition,” Sane told the Daily Mirror.
“He’s a really good person. When I first met him here, he’s really nice, open, and a really class player.
“I think everyone’s seen it before in Leicester that’s why I’m really happy that he’s here.”
