Jadon Sancho is apparently keen for his future to be resolved before the start of the European Championship, as Borussia Dortmund set an asking price of £82m for the winger.
Sancho was subject of strong transfer interest during last summer’s window with Manchester United having been linked with a move for the 21-year-old, though Dortmund’s British transfer-record valuation in excess of £100m saw talks fail to progress.
United are rumoured to be interested in the England international once again this summer, whilst Dortmund’s demands have since dropped, with Sport Bild reporting that a figure of €95 million (£82.3m) is Dortmund’s ‘pain threshold’ to get a deal done.
Sancho is understood to have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Dortmund allowing him to leave under the right conditions, with Liverpool and Chelsea having also been linked with a potential move.
United remain strong favourites and Sancho’s most likely destination as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks reinforcements in a wide role, and the former Manchester City youth prospect is apparently keen to know which club he will be playing for next season before England’s European Championship campaign gets underway on June 13.
Sancho has been named in Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33-man squad for the tournament and is expected to be included when that number is reduced to 26 next week.
The winger made 38 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions in 2020/21, scoring 16 goals and providing 14 assists, including netting twice in the club’s DFB-Pokal final win against RB Leipzig.
Dortmund are preparing for a new period following the appointment of former Borussia Monchengladbach coach, Marco Rose, and will also be keen to avoid another transfer saga involving Sancho this summer.
