Sanchez: Manchester United must make big name signings

Manchester United attacker Alexis Sanchez reckons his club must sign some big name players this summer if they are to compete for major honours this season.

It has been a frustrating transfer window for Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho so far, with the only high profile arrival at Old Trafford being Brazil international midfielder Fred.

With the English transfer window set to slam shut at 5 pm tomorrow United now face a race against time to deliver the two signings that their Portuguese manager is demanding.

Having signed from Arsenal back in January, Sanchez seems to be in agreement with his coach and the Chile international has stated that his club needs to focus on bringing in proven top-class players.

“At United we have to sign big players, with experience,” Sanchez told Sky Sports.

“Barcelona just signed Arturo Vidal, who is a great player and my team-mate from Chile.

“He is an example of the type of players we need to sign in order to win trophies and compete at the highest level.

“From what I’ve seen in training, Fred is a player who always wants to get forward, he is always trying to get forward and from a personal point of view I think we’ll be able to combine well and it will be good for my game.”

United begin their Premier League campaign on Friday night at home to Leicester City.
