However, hopes of European success were ended in midweek as Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League to Paris Saint-Germain. A penalty shootout defeat has seen Salah’s odds of winning the Ballon d’Or lengthen with performances in the competition often a defining factor.
Using the latest data from OddsChecker, Kylian Mbappe (5/2) has been installed as the new favourite. The French forward has scored 29 goals in all competitions for a Real Madrid side still in contention for La Liga and Champions League success.
Raphinha’s remarkable campaign at Barcelona has seen the Brazilian slashed to second-favourite. He has 27 goals and 19 assists in all competitions for Barcelona this season.
Salah now sits as third-favourite, ahead of Vinicius Junior and Ousmane Dembele in what appears an open race for the prize.
