Bukayo Saka insists it is “too early” for Arsenal to start talking about winning the Premier League title after drawing with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
Gabriel Magalhães put the Gunners just three minutes after kickoff, but Mo Salah cancelled out the Brazilian’s goal with a wicked strike before the half was out.
The result means Arsenal will spend Christmas Day on top of the Premier League table, but the England winger couldn’t hide his dissatisfaction at not getting the win.
“I think we are a bit frustrated,” he admitted to Sky Sports. “I am a bit frustrated that we haven’t won, but when you come to Anfield and leave frustrated that you haven’t won it says a lot. Credit to Liverpool, they played well, we played well too, so it could have gone either way in the end.
“I think there are certain moments in the game, of course they had their own moments, but sometimes in the final third that final pass or shot did not go the right way, which is frustrating.”
For only the second time in the club’s history Arsenal will lead the English top flight at Christmas for the second season running, after last doing so in 1932 and 1933 – but Saka refuses to get carried away at this stage of the campaign.
“I don’t think that you can talk about the title yet,” he stressed. “I think it is still way too early for those discussions. We will take the point, we are still top of the table for Christmas, which is nice, but it is still too early for title talk.”
