Ryan Giggs has ripped into Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku following the disappointing defeat against arch rivals, Liverpool, on Sunday afternoon.
It was a miserable afternoon for everyone associated with Manchester United, succumbing to a 3-1 defeat at the home of their fiercest rivals, with Liverpool having a whopping 36 attempts on the United goal, compared to the Red Devils’ six.
As the stats suggest, Jose Mourinho’s men were pinned back in their own half for the majority of the Anfield encounter, relying on long clearances up to the isolated figure of Romelu Lukaku, or the occasional dribble from Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford.
However, Lukaku’s performance in which he completed just seven passes has drawn some scathing criticism from United legend Ryan Giggs.
“We used to have centre-forwards like Cantona who would turn bad balls into good balls,” he is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.
“Now we have centre-forwards like Lukaku who turn good balls into bad balls.”
Needless to say, Lukaku didn’t make our latest Team of the Week, but you can check out who did in our latest video…
