Rooney: Pochettino the ‘right guy’ for Manchester United

Wayne Rooney says Manchester United need to hire Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager if they don’t stick with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian is currently doing a fine job as caretaker manager at Old Trafford, winning nine of his first ten games in charge, drawing the other one to Burnley in the Premier League.

That has put Solskjaer firmly in the frame to take the Manchester United hot-seat on a permanent basis, although it is believed that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been the club’s number one choice for quite a while.

Rooney, who now plays his football for MLS outfit DC United, says that the Red Devils should hire the Argentine if they decide against the current incumbent.

“Ole Gunnar’s a fantastic person,” Rooney told CNN.

“I think, the club will have a decision to make at the end of the season, and it’d be nice to see if Ole’s going to continue with this form, and get a shot at the job on the payment basis.

“But if not, if the club go to choose from somewhere else, then I think in my opinion Pochettino would be the right guy.”
