Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has revealed that he hopes some team can bring an end to Manchester City’s dominance this season.

Pep Guardiola’s side romped to the Premier League title in record-breaking fashion last season, and obviously Rooney – who is United’s record goal scorer – is hopeful that it will be his former club who are the team to catch Man City.

Rooney also admitted that he agrees with Jose Mourinho that Manchester United need another couple of signings, and despite the negative perception of the clubs pre-season, he reckons the Portuguese coach is preparing his side well behind closed doors.

“I hope someone can catch them – it would be nice, so hopefully Manchester United can. I think maybe another signing or two,” Rooney told Sky Sports.

“I am sure Jose [Mourinho] has been getting the team right. I know there has been a lot of talk about pre-season in the press but I am sure behind the scenes, Jose has been giving them the right amount of work.”
