Rooney urges Manchester United to hire a manger like Jurgen Klopp

Wayne Rooney says Manchester United should seek a manager like Jurgen Klopp as they look to replace Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Mourinho was sacked this week following United’s poor start to the season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer placed in temporary charge until the end of the season.

Rooney, United’s all time top-scorer with 253 goals, believes his former side should target a manager similar in style to Klopp, who has guided rivals Liverpool to the top of the Premier League this season.

“I think Jurgen Klopp looks like a dream to work for and we’re talking about Manchester United – that’s a manager that Manchester United need to get in, that style and that philosophy,” Rooney told BT Sport.

“From the outside all the players love him, all the fans love him. You want to go and play and win because it means so much to him.”

United won the first game of the post-Mourinho era on Saturday evening, winning 5-1 at Cardiff City.
