Rondon: Newcastle need to ‘keep fighting’ to stay up

Newcastle United won their second league game in a row today, beating Bournemouth 2-1 at St James’ Park.

Venezuelan international, Salomon Rondon, scored a brace in the first half to help the home side to the win. Rondon spoke after the game about the need for Newcastle to fight for their right to stay in the Premier League.

“We need this, to be honest. This is the way we need to keep working and fighting. You can see the level tonight, so we need to keep playing like that to stay up,” Rondon told the BBC.

“Tonight I am really happy, we have played really well. I have to keep working, this is my job to score, I am very happy.

“This is the way to keep winning, we need the three points and to keep fighting because it is important for us to stay up.”

After their awful start to the season, Newcastle are now up to 14th in the table and their next fixture is at Burnley after the upcoming international break.

The break may have come at the wrong time for Rafa Benitez and his team. Just as they have seemingly found a bit of form, they will now need to wait over two weeks before playing together again.
