The best football posts on social media this week, featuring Cristiano Ronaldo crashing out, Sky Sports’ ill-conceived Halo channel, Luis Rubiales getting egged, and more. 

This ad campaign has done Ibrahima Konate no favours.

Sky Sports launched a new TikTok channel aimed at female sports fans, called Halo. It was misguided, to put it mildly.

It might be the most patronising thing the station has ever done.

The timeline was really popping off.

This one is my personal favourite.

The online football community were united in their hatred for Halo.

Halo only lasted three days before Sky Sports deleted the posts and called the experiment off.

Cristiano Ronaldo was responsible for three of the funniest minutes in football history on Thursday, culminating in the first red card of his Portugal career.

One Ireland fan became an instant national hero for his reaction to Ronaldo’s strop.

Oh, and Ireland did beat Portugal, which produced this lovely moment between a dad and his son.

Luis Rubiales got egged while touring his book – by his own uncle, who is also called Luis Rubiales.

Alan Sugar got absolutely mugged by a young Arsenal fan.

Time to get your O’Sheanies out of the drawer.
