Ronaldo banned for five games.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for 5 games after a red card and pushing the referee in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo picked up a yellow card after taking his shirt off while celebrating. Just a few minutes later, he was sent off for an apparent dive, the decision itself was controversial, as there was definite contact. What made the situation worse was Ronaldo’s slight push to the referee. Under LFP rules, violent conduct with the referee warrants a suspension of anywhere from four to twelve games.

Along with his red card (1 game ban), Ronaldo has been handed an additional 4 game ban. Although Real can appeal the red card, Ronaldo will have to serve the four match ban.

The decision has angered many Madridistas who are questioning the referee’s numerous other controversial decisions in the match.

Along with the second leg of the Super Cup, Ronaldo will miss games against Deportivo La Coruna, Valencia, Levante and Sociedad.
